Role
Lead Instructional Designer
Project type
Online course development (asynchronous, Canvas-based)
This project was developed as part of Auburn University’s AUX Grant initiative to explore the lasting impact of city planning decisions in Montgomery, Alabama. As the lead instructional designer, I partnered with subject matter experts to transform complex historical content—like redlining, slum clearance, and urban renewal—into immersive, learner-centered experiences.
The course features interactive 360° storytelling, scaffolded critical thinking activities, and a clean, mobile-friendly design. Built in Canvas using tools like h5p, SeekBeak, Powtoon, and Adobe Illustrator, the course invites learners to connect policy with lived experience and reflect on how urban planning shapes social inequity today.
What I Did:
- Led the full course design and development process
- Translated complex historical data into learner-centered content
- Collaborated with SMEs to align learning goals with storytelling strategy
- Built interactive 360° experiences using SeekBeak
- Designed scaffolded learning activities using H5P and Powtoon
- Ensured accessibility and mobile responsiveness in Canvas
- Used ChatGPT to streamline drafting and enhance clarity
